Cryonorm to supply LNG Fuel System on-board “Samuel de Champlain”

Following the contract which DRAGAGES-PORTS EIG to DAMEN SHIPREPAIR & CONVERSION HOLDING BV for the conversion of the Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger Samuel de Champlain into dual-fuel (LNG/diesel oil) Cryonorm Systems BV signed contracts with Damen Shiprepair Dunkerque for the supply of the LNG Fuel Gas Systems.

Cryonorm Systems will engineer, produce and supply the LNG Fuel Systems. "For us this is the first dredger conversion project to LNG, this is a big milestone for us" says Jos Glorie, business development director at Cryonorm Systems.

The LNG Fuel Gas Supply System contract consists of fully shop pre-fabricated dual 170m3 gross LNG tank system each having its own tank connection space, holding all required gas handling equipment, port and starboard side bunker stations and the control system.

The conversion operation itself will last three and a half months, from September 2018 onwards in Dunkirk, one of DAMEN's French shipyards.

"This contract proves DAMEN Group's ability to offer its customers turnkey solutions for complex conversions integrating engineering and procurement, as well as its desire to develop its activities in the LNG sector" comments Alexandre Richerd, Sales Manager at DAMEN SHIPREPAIR & CONVERSION.

The exemplary nature of this operation, which is part of a larger European project called 'S/F SamueLNG', has received the financial support of the European Union via the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), without which this operation wouldn't have been possible.
